This puts a new meaning into carpool: A driver drove her car into the swimming pool of a San Jose apartment complex Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place at around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 1300 block of Fruitdale Avenue in San Jose, per the San Jose Fire Department.
Fortunately, the adult driver, while visibly shaken up from the car’s dive, was unharmed, said the fire department in a tweet. She was not identified by the San Jose Fire Department, who told SFGATE that the incident was likely “ accidental in nature.” It remains unclear, however, what led up to the moments before the dive.
Also lucky: No one was inside the pool either, reported KTVU.
A spokesperson for the San Jose Fire Department told SFGATE that the only damage was to the fencing surrounding the pool and to the vehicle itself.
It also is unclear if the car has been removed from the pool yet, as the spokesperson said that the fire department left the scene before a removal process was performed. Per a tweet on the San Jose Fire Department’s account, they left at 1:45 p.m., 15 minutes after they arrived.
