A body was found washed ashore off the west end of Pacifica’s Pedro Point Thursday, officials say.
Pacifica police and North County Fire Authority officials responded to a report of a person found floating face down in the water at 8:45 a.m. Thursday, per a police press release, and later found the body in the water. Medical personnel pronounced the woman dead at the scene, according to police.
Not much is known about the female subject, who remains unidentified as of Friday morning. But her body was found clothed, and according to officials, it “appeared to have been in the water for some time.”
The death is currently under investigation by the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office, in conjunction with Pacifica police investigators. It is unclear if foul play is involved.
More information will be released if the coroner’s office is unsuccessful in determining the person’s identity, a police spokesman said on Facebook.
