Vice President Kamala Harris will fly to Palm Springs on Friday, Oct. 1, before staying overnight and returning to Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Oct. 2, the White House announced.
It’s unclear why Harris, a former state attorney general who represented California in the U.S. Senate, is visiting the Coachella Valley. It’s believed to be the first time she’s visited Riverside County as vice president. She visited the Inland Empire as a Senate candidate and a senator.
Harris’ most recent visit to the state was in early September at a Northern California rally with Gov. Gavin Newsom to drum up opposition to the Sept. 14 gubernatorial recall election. President Joe Biden headlined another anti-recall rally Sept. 13 in Long Beach.
